To meet training package and audit requirements, students are required to complete practical assessments of themselves performing specific skills in front of an Educator. We achieve this by either getting the student to perform the task live for us over zoom, or by recording and uploading a video of them undertaking the task, which is then assessed by an Educator.
Full instructions are provided to the student on what needs to be included. Students often find these daunting and making time in a busy clinic can be challenging. Not all practicals need to be done in a workplace environment and as a mentor you do not need to be the person assisting or filming the student each time. Students can liaise with their mentors and employers to arrange time outside of their clinical hours to perform the practical assessments if necessary.
It is important to be aware that the videos are for the purpose of being assessed only, we do not share this footage with any third parties nor do we make any judgment based on the footage with the exception of the students’ actions and words.
